This coat is called “Calaveras”, inspired by the colorful decorated Mexican sugar skulls. Feel like one in a million, stand out from the crowd in this long hooded sweater coat! This is a beautiful rainbow blend of purples, turquoise, magentas, lime green, black and golden yellow with black stitching. There are soft cashmeres, boldly textured cottons, a heavy waistband that is lined for extra support, ribbed knits, and cozy sweatshirt fleece. There are stripes, herringbone and a floral pattern mixed in with the solids for more of a festive look, since the skulls are usually seen celebrating the “Day of the Dead”. The purple bodice is made with figure-flattering princess seams. The coat buttons up the front with 9 custom-made sugar skull buttons of polymer clay. Long sleeves have thumbholes, which can be used to keep your hands warm while texting, but pushed up to the wrist when eating. There is a tie belt in front for extra cinching of your waist. Front of skirt has a special pocket made with a beautiful embroidered “calavera”, or sugar skull, that emphasizes the colors of the coat and matches the buttons. Dramatic hood has an extra-long tail which can be wrapped around the neck like a scarf. The skirt is bordered with two bands and is a bit on the heavy, but warm and cozy side, and may not be for those with wool allergies, though most of the coat is cottons and blends.

All sweaters have been prewashed in my own organic soap mixture and hot water, then dried in a hot dryer for maximum shrinkage, and can safely be machine laundered on cold delicate wash. A warm or cool gentle air setting in a dryer is safe or lay flat, NEVER hang to dry. I recommend storing flat, not hanging. Dry cleaning is not recommended due to the polymer clay buttons.
